Looks like Blackberry cell phones are not meant to be washed with the clothes washer: one | two

I’m excited to announce the upcoming membership Web site for The Arc of Virginia. It is part of a campaign to help those who are not yet members of The Arc to see the benefit in joining while helping those with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, education and leadership.

The site features an array of multimedia including an interactive map illustrating the catchment areas of its local chapters around the state, audio from speeches and members, video outtakes from the companion DVD that will also be available on July 1, and slide shows of recent Arc events such as the State convention held a few months ago in Waynesboro.

Stay tuned!

Nothing new to report, except the frustration at the pump. Even when looking at this photo, I can’t help but curse under my breath.

What a week! Tomorrow marks my hiatus that all started with a horrendous stomach ache. Last Thursday, I was awoken with the worst stomach pain I’ve ever had. It was about 4:00 a.m. when I got up and really never went to sleep for more than 30 minutes that day. The pain subsided, but only to move to the lower right side of my stomach. WebMD says pain in that area suggests appendicitis.

I got to the hospital around 7:30 p.m. and after six hours, diagnosed and scheduled to have my appendix taken out. Luckily it did not burst; otherwise I would still be in the hospital today.  It’s all out now and hopefully there won’t be any more episodes like that anymore.

Thank you to the ER night crew and surgery team at Retreat Hospital on Grove Ave. I didn’t catch all their names but from the moment I walked in to the time I got wheeled out, the experience was a great one because of them.

From the banner above, you’ll notice I’ve gone out and produced a new slideshow on “A Taste of Hanover.” I’ve combined it with a few new techniques I’ve learned through some research on multimedia journalism, including adding some video into the mix. As you’ll probably notice, I need some more time with videography, and perhaps photography, but I’m slowly getting it.

Hulu.com has taken me away from the conventional way of watching a television program by taking classic television shows (such as “Airwolf” and “CHiPs”) and bringing them online…for free. For all the nights I missed the latest episode of “The Office” I refer to good ol’ Hulu.com to catch me up the next day.

Photography I try to make pictures whenever I can. Some would even go as far to say that I have an unhealthy obsession with cameras, but then that's like saying someone has an unhealthy obsession with breathing.
